glass care
Each glass piece contains lead from the solder and lead came around the piece. Please wash hands after handling your glass artwork. Lead is not harmful on skin, but harmful once ingested. For proper care, wash hands, to prevent any harmful consumption of lead.
Every sun-catcher has been sealed with wax, then polished and buffed. If a white flakey substance appears on glass, simply re-buff using a soft cloth. There is no need to use glass cleaner or other chemicals on glass. Simply, dust every once in awhile and occasionally buff, if needed.
When installing your glass suncatcher, please defer from using suction cups. These can easily come off with temperature changes, cheap or poor suctions. The best way to hang your piece, is with a secure cup hook or nail on your window frame. If you have a metal window frame, try adding a hook or nail to the trim around your frame. Some windows have latches between the panes, sun catchers can be installed by hanging from the latch. Hanging with string is the best option for this, the string can be secured around the latch easily. If you need any help or suggestions when installing, feel free to reach out to me to find the most suitable option for you.
It’s best to seal your glass once a year, to prevent tarnish. To extend the life of your solder, a simple spray wax can be purchased. Spray onto a soft cloth and polish your glass by rubbing the wax into the solder lines. A spray furniture polish or car wax with carnauba wax (solid) will work fine. Follow with a clean soft dry cloth, to buff the wax into the solder.
